Scarily and quicker than we realise, our personal information is being circulated on the Dark Web. That includes children’s information which is something that might come as an unwelcome surprise to many parents.
Last year saw a massive spike in ransomware-related cyber attacks. This therefore meant that a vast amount of sensitive data was stolen from all sorts of places including schools and hospitals and then resold online. As a parent this is a hard thing to imagine happening, and harder still to believe that our children are at risk, especially if we’ve managed to keep our kids off social media completely.

“I’d be lying if I said that it wasn’t happening. Our children do have identity credentials. You are claiming them on your taxes.”

To protect our children, we could freeze their credit, even though they’re too young to have a credit history. This could therefore prevent anybody else from opening a bank account using their credentials.
